A few of you asked me about rental cars in Fredricksburg ...

Here's the info ..

Enterprise Rent-A-Car
1318 S STATE HIGHWAY 16 # 103-
FREDRICKSBURG, TX 78624-5058
Tel.: (830) 997-1745

I will be arranging for a shuttle to run us back and forth that weekend as well, but if you would like to be master of your own transport the number is above.

Once in town everything is walking distance unless some of the girls would like to hit some of the winerys in which case they are all within 10 miles of town. I believe the shuttle could provide transport for the ladies while we're out flying around.

I'll be sending out a note soon with a tentative itinerary and some "tourist info" in the next few days. In additon I'm going to send out a mailer to Thorp owners in Texas all of the adjoining states to see if we can turn it up a bit for the event.

Some tourist info for you guys ... please pass these along to the ladies as they'll most likely be the ones to benefit from this ... we'll be out Thorpin'!

Sorry to keep blasting you guys with info but as Sun n Fun is now over I'm heads down on getting this event taken care of.

I just got off the phone with the local FBO, they're looking forward to our arrival and are more than willing and able to keep us fueled.

In addition I called the airport manager and here's where a small snag may have come into play. There's another group coming that weekend as well but I think we may be able to turn this to our advantage. It turns out there's going to be a T-6 formation clinic that weekend there as well, they're expecting around 18-20 airplanes to show up, the field has 35 main tie downs and 18 off on the north ramp. I told the manager that if it were a problem with space we'd claim the north ramp or use our own tie downs and give the T-6 group the main ramp. In addition they were planning on resurfacing the runway that week (!!!!) but he told me he'd reschedule to accommodate us.

This may be our chance to get a group of Thorps in on a T-6 formation ... I'm assigning Bob and Cubes as our group liaisons, at the very least it should make for some fun at the bar in the afternoon!

Just pulled the March 2012 FAA Aircraft Registration down. Can you believe there are 50 T-18's in the TX, AR, OK, LA, NM area? 30 in TX alone!

Where have all these jokers been hiding out?!

Good news for me, it looks like Jim Paine's old airplane is now here in town, that brings Houston's T-18 population up to 3!
