Sitting in the cockpit, I'm not remotely close to getting gouged by the fap handle bracket. I have simmered the thought of elec flaps but I am like Rich, it would be a project to get it done.....Dan

I am working towards a solution with a built in flap position indicator.
I plan to use the Firgelli FA-PO-150-12-2 which has in built position feedback and combine it with an e flap controller.

The ACI e flap controller is both the switch and the indicator, it will drive the flaps to a pre set position with a single press of the relevant button, the button lights to indicate which stage of flap is set. Probably not to everyone's taste but I think it strikes a good balance.
By my estimate electric flaps work out at about 1.2 pounds heavier than the flap handle and that seems like a reasonable trade for cleaning up the centre tunnel and improving cabin comfort.
I thought from reading past news letters the recommended flap extension speed was 100mph although I have seen some T18 operators manuals where the max speed was 110.

I'm curious, what speed do some of you use for lowering the flaps. I've been using 120mph for years but does anyone use a higher one. Did John ever say what the max is?

100 mph is the design flap extension speed.
