MA-4 & -5 carburetors have a 1/4"-18 tapered pipe thread from the factory. As I mentioned in my first post on this subject, some other carbs may have a straight machine thread, & you use an o-ring & check nut to seal & secure the fitting (at any angle you want), but not MA-4s & 5s unless they have something non-original. As Scott (& I) suggested, a straight fitting on the carb along with a 90 deg. fitting on the hose is a fine way to go. The long-radius "sweep" elbow fitting that Scott suggested would be my choice.
